In the mountains of Gamagori, amongst the derelict houses and cabins of families long past is an annual concert, that is as much a trade fair as it is a music festival. With antique dealers, food stalls, micro-brews, crafters and artists, you could happily spend the day at Mori Michi Ichiba shopping…if the music wasn’t so good.
No way near on the scale of Fuji Rock or Summer Sonic, there are only two stages, and the acts are mapped out so they never overlap. Although a small festival, big bands are still attracted, such as Your Song is Good, bonobos and Zainichi Funk. The intimacy of the music festival means that it is one of the cheapest in the country, with tickets starting at just 1600yen…a price even we couldn’t complain about!
